Hendrik Helmer is an American guitarist, producer, recording artist, and master teacher with more than four decades of experience in the music industry. A sought-after musician and producer, he seamlessly blends technical mastery with deep musicality, earning recognition in both live performance and studio recording environments.

Hendrik’s journey began with rigorous training in the Mannes Jazz Program at The New School in New York City and at the Hogeschool Enschede Conservatorium in the Netherlands. His early dedication to music laid the foundation for an international career spanning live performances, studio work, and music production.

 

Over the years he has performed on major stages worldwide—from renowned concert halls to international festivals—and his guitar work has been featured on a wide range of international recordings and syndicated television productions.

As a producer and engineer, Hendrik has overseen numerous acclaimed recordings, working from his mobile studio, Carry On Studios, as well as from his recording space in Brooklyn, New York. His work continues to receive industry recognition.

 

In 2025, he contributed to the single “Everybody Loves a Circus” by Michele Bettencourt & Vampire Time, which received the Independent Music Network (IMN) Award for Mainstream Breakout Single. Earlier in his career, in 2000, Hendrik received a documentary film award in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, for Go With the Flow, a film he produced in collaboration with Karl Wortmann through the production company Ikon3film.

Beyond his work as a performer and producer, Hendrik is also a dedicated educator and mentor. His teaching has influenced numerous musicians, including longtime student Sarah Solovay, who won the John Mayer Songwriting Competition in 2008 for her single “Gone.”

 

Through private instruction, masterclasses, and mentorship, Hendrik has helped guide emerging artists and professionals alike in developing their musical voice.
